You now can’t change a BP either in the BP view, or the homepage, by typing in a new name… Hitting enter does nothing. Only way to change to someone else’s BP is to edit the url.

First off, w3cschool’s stats are terrible. As a tip, if you want a better picture of the state of the market, you’ll want to look at a site like Statcounter.

That aside, TF2B’s target demographic is very specific and targets a group that is (relatively) very tech savvy – so the relevant statistics are inverted somewhat. If you look at Steam’s Hardware survey, only 14% of Steam users are running XP compared to 53% on Windows 7.

On a more personal level, Google’s analytics reports a 13% share for Windows XP, a 4.9% total share for all versions of IE with 19% of that 4.9% being IE8.

So ultimately it’s not really worth it to support IE8 as it’s a minority of a minority. If the opposite was true then there would be value in support, but otherwise it’s just a whole load of fallback bloat.

If you’d like, I can publish the Browser/OS stats in a future blogpost for everyone to look over.

Hey, it’s your site, do whatever you want. Team Fortress 2 supports Windows XP, so it seems reasonable that a portion of TF2B’s demographic would still use Windows XP.

Other sites like OPTF2 and TF2 Items support IE 8. In addition, it appears that more people currently use IE 8 than IE 9 (http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp). However, I’m not particularly surprised that the search function doesn’t work in IE 8, because TF2B’s backpacks never displayed properly in IE 8 anyway.

I don’t know how much effort you put into that update but honestly i’m a long time user of TF2B and i dislike the new interface very much . Mainly because i use your website alot and i hate when something i like changes like that , maybe time will make me get used to it , i dunno :p

Yes, so enter the id from the backpack view instead. There is no need to visit the homepage in such a case, it’s only there to provide an initial choice to the user.

As for full URLs, it’s part of a known issue and I’m working on a better solution, it should roll out in a few days hopefully.

yes, I saw that, but maybe I didn’t made myself clear: I mean if I type the ID or the Steam 64ID from the main page and press enter, it took me directyl to my game I saved…

oh and btw, I think before the update, if I posted a full URL like http://steamcommunity.com/id/robinwalker/ it worked, now it took to me to http://tf2b.com/tf2/http://steamcommunity.com/id/robinwalker/ page that doesn’t work
